Module 1: Crane Accidents

Various types of overhead crane accidents
The leading causes of dropped loads

Module 2: Inspection and Maintenance

Adherence to the manufacturer’s guidelines during inspection
Pre-start inspections and logbooks
Correct spooling of wire rope on hoist drums
Inspections of wire ropes, end attachments, hoist blocks, equalizer sheaves, and hoist drums
Testing of high and low limit switches, controls for proper operation, and hoist brakes
Inspection schedules as per maintenance

Module 3: Basic Safety Recommendations

The Dos and Don’ts of safe operation

Though this course covers some aspects related to Rigging, it is advised that operators also undertake Rigging (Basic), Rigging (Intermediate) or Rigging and Slinging (Advanced) along with it.

The testing conducted in this digital Overhead Cranes course is intended to reinforce the information imparted. A score of 70% is required to earn a certificate of completion. If the pass mark is not achieved on the first try, participants have the opportunity to retake the course twice.
