This module will enlighten you about the risks linked with oil spills and the methods to avert, control, and mitigate them.

Upon successful completion of the “Oil Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC)” course, one should attain an enriched understanding of:

  • The destructive impact of oil spills and the relevant laws and regulations for preventing oil pollution.
  • The objective and general prerequisites of a facility’s SPCC Plan.
  • The standard operating procedures tailored to avert spills.
  • General control strategies to inhibit an oil spill from contaminating navigable waters and adjacent shorelines.
  • Elementary steps to halt a spill from damaging the environment
  • Basic protocols to respond to facility shutdown and evacuation.

Testing conducted throughout this online “Oil Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC)” course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are allowed the opportunity to retake the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
