Therefore, contact should be minimized unless necessary and proper procedures are in place. The most effective way to prevent cross-contamination is by understanding the importance of biosecurity and its considerations prior to farm visitation. If unsure, always consult with the farmer about their biosecurity procedures and demonstrate your respect by adhering to them. Keep in mind, the risk doesn’t end when you depart from the farm, which is another aspect this course will address to lessen the likelihood of transferring contaminants to another farm or your home.
