This course, “Hearing Conservation (CA)”, is designed to facilitate understanding of the effects of noise on auditory health, recognizing symptoms of hearing impairment, and the sound exposure thresholds that warrant the use of hearing protectors. It also provides insights into different hearing protectors, their merits, correct application, and elaborates on your role in upholding your employer’s hearing conservation program.

Upon successful completion of this “Hearing Conservation (CA)” course, you should have a comprehensive understanding of the following:

  • How noise affects hearing and the factors that influence the degree of hearing impairment.
  • Noise exposure thresholds that necessitate the use of hearing protection in accordance with Part VII of Canadian Regulations.
  • How different types of hearing protectors are chosen for a task, and their pros and cons in managing noise exposure.
  • Appropriate application, care, and maintenance of hearing protectors.
  • The specifications of a Hearing Conservation Program.
