Our extensive course is designed to equip employers, management teams, supervisors, and other relevant professionals with the requisite knowledge for improved awareness and handling of impairment cases, paying special attention to cannabis-related impairment.
Our extensive course, “Cannabis & the Workplace: Impairment Awareness for Employers”, is designed to equip employers, management teams, supervisors, and other relevant professionals with the requisite knowledge for improved awareness and handling of impairment cases, especially those relating to cannabis use. The course meets the standards outlined in the COAA Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will:
- Gain an understanding of impairment and the terminology related to impairment awareness
- Learn about cannabis, alcohol, and other drugs, along with their effects on users
- Acquire knowledge on best practices for maintaining high impairment awareness at workplaces
- Receive information on impaired driving
- Learn how to respond to impairment incidents
- Understand the procedures for documenting reasonable cause and initiating testing
- Appreciate the significance of confidentiality and proper record-keeping
- Recognize when and why impairment testing is necessary
- Receive tips and timelines for post-incident testing
- Understand when and why drug testing is needed for reasonable cause
- Learn about the testing process
- Understand who holds the responsibility for testing
- Be enlightened on the importance of updating policies and which updates should be prioritized
Environ 45 minutes
Throughout the “Cannabis & the Workplace: Impairment Awareness for Employers” online course, testing is conducted to reinforce the knowledge acquired. To earn a certificate of completion, a minimum score of 70% is required. Participants have the opportunity to retake the course twice if the pass mark is not initially achieved.
Upon successfully finishing this online course, a certificate of completion will be immediately available for download and printing.
