Rigger and Signalperson (Basic Introduction) (CAN)

This Canadian safety training course is designed for novice riggers and signalmen. The focus is on slings, hardware, lifting tools, sling angles and stress points, sling hitches, crane operations, and communication. This course meets the classroom training requirement for occupational safety. It also provides a proficiency checklist which employers can utilize for practical evaluation. At the end of the course, trainees can download and print either a certificate or wallet card to demonstrate completion of the Basic Rigger and Signalperson training as per Canadian standards. NOTE: Only an employer has the authority to certify an employee. Certification prerequisites may differ by state or province. Local standards should be consulted for any additional occupational training requirements.

Objectifs du cours :

  • Understand the significance of appropriately securing loads and preventing common rigging mishaps.
  • Identify various rigging equipment including slings, shackles, eye bolts, hooks and frequently used lifting devices.
  • Learn the advantages and limitations of this equipment and how to inspect it.
  • You will be trained to rig the load according to its center of gravity and calculate the angles and stresses of a pick. You will also learn different methods of securing a load with sling hitches.
  • Communicate effectively with the crane operator using voice and hand signals during load movement.

Estimated Course Duration: As everyone learns at their own pace, the time taken to complete this course will vary. However, the estimated time for this course is between 5 and 5.5 hours.
