This Canadian-standard-compliant safety learning program, Falling Objects (CAN), is designed for anyone who operates in environments where falling objects may pose a risk. Subjects discussed in this course include safety protocols, preventive measures, and potential hazards. This course fulfills the classroom instruction component for workplace safety training and includes a skills assessment checklist that employers may use for practical evaluation. After completing the course, participants can download and print a certificate or wallet card showing evidence of their Falling Objects (CAN) training. IMPORTANT: Only an employer can officially certify an employee. Certification requirements may differ by region or state. Please consult local standards for further professional training requirements.

Falling Objects (CAN)

APERÇU DU COURS

Our Falling Objects (CAN) Hazards course complies with regulations and our online delivery meets the requirements for classroom-based instruction. Each module includes sections on safety protocols, preventive measures, potential hazards, and more. In this training, we will focus on safe operations in work environments at risk of falling objects, such as construction sites with scaffolding, cranes, heavy machinery, and ladders. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of gravity as they apply to falling objects and loads. The course will explain how to mitigate falling object hazards using a hierarchy of controls. Participants will learn how to utilize tool tethering and site controls to prevent equipment from falling from heights. The course will also cover the appropriate personal protective gear to wear in environments with falling object risks. By studying authentic, investigated workplace accidents, participants will be able to identify these hazards and plan accordingly.

While it will still be necessary to familiarize yourself with any other applicable federal, state, and local standards, this training covers the following laws and regulations:

  • CAN/CSA ZL Protective Clothing & Equipment
  • CAN/CSA-Z271-10: Safety Code for Suspended Platforms
