Safety in the workplace is a collective responsibility between employers and their employees. As stipulated in the General Duty Clause, (Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act of 1970), employers are mandated by OSHA to ensure their work environment is safe for their employees. However, each staff member should be knowledgeable about possible hazards they may encounter during construction work, take necessary precautions to avert or eliminate these hazards, and promptly report any hazardous or unsafe conditions as they occur.
