This Canada-compliant safety training program, the Scrap and Material Handler course, is designed for anyone involved in operating a scrap and material handler. The course encompasses vital topics such as equipment anatomy and inspection, stability, secure operations, and potential hazards. This course fulfills the classroom requirement for occupational safety training and includes a proficiency checklist for employers to conduct a practical evaluation. Upon successful completion, participants will have the ability to download and print a certificate or wallet card as proof of their Scrap and Material Handler training in Canada. NOTE: Only employers have the authority to certify an employee. Certification prerequisites might differ based on state or province. Please consult local standards for any additional occupational training requirements.

APERÇU DU COURS

Our Scrap & Material Handler training program is designed in compliance with regulations, and our online version meets classroom training obligations. The course covers essential sections on anatomy and inspection, stability, secure operations, and common hazards.

Throughout this Scrap and Material Handler training, we will explore the structure of the scrap and material handler, discussing general components that should be inspected prior to each shift. Then, we will delve into the principles of stability to bear in mind during equipment operation.
Following this, we will discuss safe operating principles relevant to your equipment and worksite. Lastly, we will examine common hazards associated with working in or around scrap handlers. We will review some investigated accident profiles to demonstrate real-life situations where operators disregarded safe operating practices.

The course includes intermittent practice quiz questions to prepare for the final written exam. In addition to the written exam, this course provides a checklist for employers to use when conducting a practical exam as mandated by OSHA.

Estimated Training Duration: The duration of this training can vary as individuals learn and progress at different rates. However, it is estimated to take between 1.5 – 2 hours.
