Son cours, intitul\u00e9 \u201d Women Up : Ignite the Leader in You \u201c (Les femmes \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre : r\u00e9veillez la leader qui sommeille en vous), aborde les d\u00e9fis sp\u00e9cifiques auxquels les femmes sont confront\u00e9es dans ces environnements.\u00a0 \u201d Lorsque j\u2019ai d\u00e9but\u00e9 ma carri\u00e8re, j\u2019ai pass\u00e9 des ann\u00e9es dans des milieux domin\u00e9s par les hommes \u201c, confie la Dre Pagonis. \u201d En tant que femme civile au sein des forces de l\u2019ordre, j\u2019ai d\u00fb gagner en cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 d\u2019une mani\u00e8re que mes homologues masculins n\u2019ont pas eu \u00e0 faire. \u201c Ces exp\u00e9riences l\u2019ont inspir\u00e9e \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des programmes qui dotent les femmes des comp\u00e9tences et de la confiance n\u00e9cessaires pour diriger.\u00a0 La formation \u201d Women Up \u201c en est \u00e0 sa septi\u00e8me promotion. Le programme met l\u2019accent sur le renforcement de la confiance en soi, le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une pr\u00e9sence de dirigeante et la gestion des conversations difficiles. \u201d L\u2019un des plus grands d\u00e9fis auxquels les femmes sont confront\u00e9es est la confiance en soi \u201c, explique le Dr Pagonis. \u201d Qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de s\u2019exprimer lors de r\u00e9unions ou de d\u00e9fendre leurs int\u00e9r\u00eats, le probl\u00e8me ne r\u00e9side souvent pas dans les comp\u00e9tences, mais dans la conviction. \u201c\u00a0 Une r\u00e9ussite retient particuli\u00e8rement l\u2019attention. Une participante de la premi\u00e8re promotion occupait un poste de cadre sup\u00e9rieur. Elle exer\u00e7ait une fonction temporaire tout en \u00e9tant en lice pour une promotion \u00e0 un poste permanent. Les d\u00e9cideurs l\u2019ont \u00e9cart\u00e9e, pr\u00e9textant qu\u2019elle \u00e9tait \u201d stress\u00e9e \u201c et qu\u2019elle avait besoin d\u2019\u00eatre \u201d prot\u00e9g\u00e9e \u201c. Le Dr Pagonis qualifie cela de cas classique de sexisme bienveillant. \u201d On n\u2019a jamais dit \u00e0 ses homologues masculins qu\u2019ils n\u2019\u00e9taient pas promus parce que quelqu\u2019un devait les prot\u00e9ger \u201c, note-t-elle. Ils lui ont refus\u00e9 des opportunit\u00e9s malgr\u00e9 ses qualifications \u00e9videntes. Le programme a appris \u00e0 cette cadre \u00e0 formuler ses pr\u00e9occupations. Il l\u2019a \u00e9galement aid\u00e9e \u00e0 ma\u00eetriser ses \u00e9motions lors d\u2019entretiens d\u00e9cisifs. \u201d Elle est retourn\u00e9e voir son patron, lui a demand\u00e9 de plaider en sa faveur et a chang\u00e9 le discours \u201c, se souvient le Dr Pagonis. \u201d En moins d\u2019un mois, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 promue. \u201c Les retomb\u00e9es de Women Up sont consid\u00e9rables. Les dipl\u00f4m\u00e9es progressent non seulement dans leur carri\u00e8re, mais jouent \u00e9galement un r\u00f4le de mentor aupr\u00e8s d\u2019autres femmes. \u201d Il s\u2019agit de cr\u00e9er un cycle d\u2019autonomisation \u201c, explique le Dr Pagonis. \u00ab Lorsqu\u2019une femme r\u00e9ussit, elle ouvre la voie \u00e0 d\u2019autres. \u00bb Des r\u00e9ussites durables Le Dr Pagonis ne mesure pas le succ\u00e8s au nombre de personnes qui suivent ses cours, mais aux changements concrets qu\u2019elles apportent. Un responsable des Services de sant\u00e9 de l\u2019Alberta en a donn\u00e9 un excellent exemple. Il a transform\u00e9 un concept d\u2019intelligence \u00e9motionnelle en pratique quotidienne. \u00ab Il a imprim\u00e9 une roue des \u00e9motions grandeur nature, l\u2019a accroch\u00e9e au mur et a utilis\u00e9 des aimants pour repr\u00e9senter chaque membre de l\u2019\u00e9quipe.
