While commercial trucks represent a relatively small percentage of traffic, they are linked to around 8% of all collisions and nearly one-fifth of fatal accidents. With such significant impact, strong safety standards and strict <strong>compliance with commercial vehicle weights and dimensions<\/strong> are vital.<\/p>\n<p>This online program examines both federal and provincial\/territorial <strong>regulations<\/strong> governing commercial truck size and weight. Learners will study requirements for width, height, length, and weight, as well as the purpose of the <strong>MOU<\/strong>, which brings consistency across jurisdictions. By the end of the course, drivers and operators will know how to avoid costly violations, improve safety, and remain compliant.<\/p>\n<p>After completing this course, learners will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the importance of <strong>compliance<\/strong> with weight and dimension laws in Canada<\/li>\n<li>Identify hazards and consequences of operating oversize or overweight vehicles<\/li>\n<li>Compare provincial and federal standards to determine maximum load capacity<\/li>\n<li>Explain how the <strong>MOU<\/strong> applies to interprovincial transportation<\/li>\n<li>Locate detailed information on local <strong>regulations<\/strong> for vehicle weights and dimensions<\/li>\n<li>Calculate total allowable vehicle weight accurately<\/li>\n<li>Interpret highway-specific restrictions and exceptions<\/li>\n<li>Recognize inspection procedures and <strong>enforcement<\/strong> actions for non-compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"title-bar\">Course Topics<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Why Weights and Dimensions Matter in Transportation<\/li>\n<li>The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Explained<\/li>\n<li>Vehicle Category Rules for Size and Weight<\/li>\n<li>Designated Highway Requirements<\/li>\n<li>Provincial and Territorial Differences in Regulations<\/li>\n<li>Calculating Maximum Legal Weight<\/li>\n<li>Special Circumstances and Exceptions<\/li>\n<li>Regulation, Compliance, and <strong>Enforcement<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"title-bar\">Online Course Duration<\/div>\n<p>This course takes approximately 90 minutes to complete online at your own pace.<\/p>\n<div class=\"title-bar\">Pass Mark<\/div>\n<p>An 80% minimum grade is required to pass this <b>working alone safety training<\/b>.
