The course also includes a checklist for employers to use during a practical exam as per OSHA requirements.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction<\/li>\n<li>Definitions<\/li>\n<li>Sling Types\n<ul>\n<li>Synthetic Slings<\/li>\n<li>Wire Rope Slings<\/li>\n<li>Chain Slings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Hardware<\/li>\n<li>Lifting Devices<\/li>\n<li>Weight<\/li>\n<li>Angles and Stresses<\/li>\n<li>Sling Hitches\n<ul>\n<li>Vertical Hitches<\/li>\n<li>Bridle Hitches<\/li>\n<li>Choker Hitches<\/li>\n<li>Basket Hitches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Center of Gravity<\/li>\n<li>Communication\n<ul>\n<li>General Hand Signals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Conclusion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Course Goals:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gain knowledge of load securing and learn to avoid common mistakes causing rigging accidents. <\/li>\n<li>Identify different types of rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, eye bolts, hooks, and commonly used lifting devices. <\/li>\n<li>Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the equipment and how to inspect it. <\/li>\n<li>Learn how to calculate the weight of the load, rig the load based on its center of gravity, and calculate the angles and stresses of a pick. Gain knowledge on different methods to secure a load with sling hitches.<\/li>\n<li>Learn to use voice and hand signals to communicate with the crane operator when moving a load. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Estimated Training Length: <\/b>Time spent on this training will vary as everyone learns and progresses differently.
