Cross-contamination between farms can have devastating effects on both crops and livestock, leading to substantial financial implications for the entire farm.<\/p>\n<p>Our course delves into the biosecurity procedures concerning pig handling. It aims to educate you on identifying the hazards and elucidating how to circumvent them to significantly reduce contamination risks. It is essential to perceive every farm you visit as a hazard zone rather than a petting zoo, given most threats to livestock are invisible. Therefore, contact should be minimized unless necessary and proper procedures are in place. The most effective way to prevent cross-contamination is by understanding the importance of biosecurity and its considerations prior to farm visitation. If unsure, always consult with the farmer about their biosecurity procedures and demonstrate your respect by adhering to them.
