Participants will acquire pragmatic skills, learning to tackle conflicts efficiently and prevent legal disputes. The curriculum also covers a comprehensive review of other laws associated with construction, including builders liens, debt collection, bonding, insurance, environmental law, and safety law.<\/p>\n<p>Upon successful completion, this course qualifies for 5 CCA Gold Seal education credits and 10 BC Housing CPD credits.<\/p>\n<div class=\"title-bar\" style=\"font-size: 18.0px\">  <b><b>COURSE TOPICS<\/b><\/b> <\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><b>The Construction Law program comprises 12 instructive video modules, totaling 10 hours of expert-led content.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exploration of the Canadian legal system and law sources<\/li>\n<li>Primer on contract law basics \u2013 intention, offer, acceptance, consideration, capacity and legality<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to various CCDC\/CCA contracts and their applications<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of legal jargon used in contracts<\/li>\n<li>Comprehension of the contractual duties of different parties<\/li>\n<li>Insight into the bidding process and contractual obligations<\/li>\n<li>Understanding how specifications and drawings relate to the contractual hierarchy<\/li>\n<li>Insight into the contractual bond between contractor and sub-contractor<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge on compiling and submitting proper extras and claims<\/li>\n<li>Definition of back charges and how to avoid them<\/li>\n<li>Skills to prevent construction disputes and claims at the site level<\/li>\n<li>Techniques to write professional RFIs and Change Orders<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the dispute resolution process \u2013 negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation<\/li>\n<li>Usage of the Builder\u2019s Lien Act to secure debts<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the function and purpose of the \u201choldback system\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Usage of the Small Claims process to recover debts<\/li>\n<li>Understanding bonding\/surety and its application in construction<\/li>\n<li>Insight into the types of insurance used in construction<\/li>\n<li>Understanding environmental law<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the requirements of safety law and WCB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Intended Audience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction Company Owners<\/li>\n<li>Management Personnel<\/li>\n<li>Estimation Experts<\/li>\n<li>Supervisory Staff<\/li>\n<li>General Staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"title-bar\" style=\"font-size: 18.0px\">  <b><b>ONLINE COURSE DURATION<\/b><\/b> <\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Estimated time of completion is 10 hours<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"title-bar\" style=\"font-size: 18.0px\">  <b><b>PASS MARK<\/b><\/b> <\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Testing conducted throughout this online Construction Law course is designed to reinforce the information presented.
