Hazardous materials, also known as HAZMAT, are shipped in massive quantities daily. These substances can pose severe threats due to their toxic, flammable, explosive, poisonous, or corrosive nature.<\/p>\n

The HazMat Transportation course provides a fundamental understanding of identifying and safely managing hazardous materials. It also helps you comply with the federal laws and regulations surrounding HAZMAT. This course is perfectly suited for individuals working in packaging, shipping, or transporting hazardous materials.<\/p>\n

The Hazardous Materials Table<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

  • The U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, along with its supporting agencies, regulate the transportation of these dangerous substances within the US, ensuring that they comply with the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Shipping Papers<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Shippers have the responsibility of documenting hazardous materials information before offering them for transport. This module delves into the components of accurately prepared shipping papers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Packaging<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • This module delves into the HMR\u2019s packaging requirements for hazardous materials. The U.S. Department of Transportation and its designated agencies regulate the packaging and transportation of HAZMAT. They also have the authority to inspect HAZMAT packages and penalize you or your employer for any HMR violations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Marking<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

        • This e-Lessons series on Hazardous Materials Transportation provides general awareness training on the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations. Module 4, in particular, covers the marking and labeling of hazardous materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Carrier Requirements – Highway<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

              Carrier Requirements – Air (IATA).<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

              • Part 175 of the Hazardous Materials Regulations or HMR provides air carriers with specific requirements for accepting, handling, and transporting hazardous materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

If the pass mark is not achieved, participants are allowed to retake the course twice. For future use and knowledge retention, printable resources are available in the form of an extensive student manual.<\/p>\n
